Information

NYC is the largest city in the United States, with a population of around 8.5 million, and is both a cultural and financial capital of the world. The most commonly spoken language is English, with signage in certain areas of the city tailored for it's occupants. The New York City subway system is the largest in the world, boasting 468 stations over 34 distinct lines, as well as an extensive Bus transit system. It's a historical location and landmark, with lots of activities.

The dates of the event are in late spring, with weather being typically agreeable. Average temperatures are around 24°C / 75°F, with a fairly dry heat. There isn't a typical local cuisine, and you'll have the pleasure of having food ranging from street meat to 3 michelin star restaurants, and everything in between. Regardless of your food preferences, there is almost certainly a place where you'll enjoy excellent meals at a great price.

Travel

For US and international flights, there are several airports in the area:

  • Newark International Airport, with three passenger terminals, is located in New Jersey and is accessible via a short ride on the NJ Transit to Penn Station, and a subway ride on the A/2/3 lines to the venue. Subway fare is purchased separately from train fare, which will include a short Air Train ride at the airport.
  • LaGuardia Airport, with four passenger terminals, is located in the borough of Queens. You can get to the venue either by taking 30 minute taxi ride, or the M60 bus to Manhattan and the Express 4 train at East 125/Lexington Avenue.

  • Bus and subway fare is currently $2.50
  • Bus fare should be paid either exact change (no cash allowed) or with a MetroCard
  • The extensive subway line makes it easy to get lost, but all subway stations contain helpful maps of the area, and all major stops also have attendants who can help guide you to where you are headed
  • Taxi drivers generally expect a tip, and there are suggested amounts on all paying screens, you can also pay via cash or credit/debit card
  • Taxi fare from La Guardia to Pace University is typically around $45.00, tip is not included
